When choosing your Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or Connecticut's home carpet, it's essential to know what type of carpet fiber will work best for your home. The type of fiber in a carpet determines its durability, feel, resistance to stains, cost, and overall appearance. The vast majority of carpets are made with synthetic materials, which are adaptable into a variety of styles and easier to maintain than natural carpet fibers. Types of these carpet fibers include the following:

Nylon fibers are durable, stain- and mildew-resistant and static-free, and can withstand heavy furniture and foot traffic.
Wool fibers are a natural fiber choice and are very soft, easy to clean, and long-lasting - as well as expensive. Used in velvet and plush carpets, acrylic fibers offer the look and feel of wool at a lower cost, as well as moisture and mildew resistance. However, acrylic fibers are not the best choice for high traffic areas.
Olefin fibers are easy to clean and maintain, and can be used both indoor and outdoor.
Polyester fibers are commonly used in Berber carpets and offer fading resistance.
PET fibers are made of recycled plastics and are not as soft as other synthetic fibers, but are environmentally friendly, durable, and generally inexpensive.
