Types of Eco-friendly Flooring
One of the most fascinating things about some flooring is that you can reuse and recycle them. Flooring that's made from ceramic tile and plastic tile can be recycled, while modular carpet and indoor rubber flooring can be reused or renewed. Here are some other options in eco-friendly flooring:

Bamboo flooring
Bamboo flooring is much more durable than many types of hardwood flooring, however, bamboo flooring is not recommended for bathrooms and laundry rooms. Bamboo floors are environmentally friendly. They use a quickly renewable crop. Made with safe resins, they have extremely low formaldehyde emissions and make excellent floors for healthy homes. Bamboo floors are ideal for allergy sufferers as they do not promote dust or harbor dust mites. Bamboo flooring is an inexpensive alternative to hardwood flooring, usually costing 25% to 50% less than hardwood.

Cork flooring
Cork flooring is stain resistant and reliable. Cork flooring is good for areas where heavy traffic can wear down your floor. Cork flooring has a very soft texture, making it very comfortable to stand on.

Cork flooring is made from either cork oak trees or the waste of the cork wine stopper. The cork oak tree is not destroyed and then replanted but rather the bark is trimmed from the tree every 9 years, leaving the tree and the forest undamaged. Its not unusual to have a 200 year old tree still producing cork bark.

Natural linoleum Flooring
Natural linoleum flooring is made from linseed oil and pine resin, which are very sustainable resources. Natural linoleum floors are naturally anti-bacterial, which is ideal for bathroom and kitchen floors.

Hardwood Flooring
If you love hardwood flooring, there are many eco-friendly options. Find flooring where the timber has been cut from forest with accredibility from the Forest Stewardship Council. The Forest Stewardship Council guarantees that the sources are sustainable and that environmentally responsible practices have been used.
