Hardwood Floor Protection Tips
Maintaining the best hardwood floor protection you must keep relative humidity inside your home ideally in the 40 to 60 percent range.
Depending on where you live, a humidifier in the winter should be use to keep this level up and a dehumidifier in the summer to keep the level down. If your floor appears dull, it might be time for a face-lift.
Many people choose to hire a floor refinishing company. But if you decide to do-it-yourself, you can rent a wood floor sander. Before you start refinishing a hardwood floor make certain the flooring is thick enough to be sanded.
Hardwood floor protection is vital in keeping your wood floor looking like new. The floor in a house receives more wear and tear than any other part. In addition to regular cleaning, floor covering need to be replaced occasionally.
With a wood floor sander you can sand away the old finish and any stain and irregular bumps or ridges. For floors that are not too bad shape, use 30 or 40 grit sandpaper for the first pass and 120-grit for the second pass on refinishing a hardwood floor.
Floors finished with penetrating sealers usually do not require hardwood floor protection to be finished. Clean the floor, remove all dust, and apply another coat of penetrating sealer. If the floor has cracks or gaps between boards fill them with floor putty that matches the color of the sanded wood. When it is hard, it can be sanded.
Used a wood floor sander to prepare the floor for finishing. Refinishing a hardwood floor can be avoided by placing doormats inside and outside all entry doors that will help to minimize the grit that gets tracked into the house.
