How to Remove Carpet Bleach Stains
Remove Carpeting Stains
Bleach can wreak havoc on any surface, including your carpet. However, if you act quickly, you can remove recent bleach stains from carpet following these steps:
- Mix together one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and two cups of warm water.
- After putting on rubber gloves, blot the excess bleach with a paper towel or clean cloth.
- Rinse the stain delicately, taking care not to over-wet the carpet.
- Blot the dishwashing liquid and water mixture using a clean cloth or paper towel, working from the outer edges of the stain to the center of the stain.
- Let the stain sit for five minutes and then repeat blotting until no more of the bleach transfers to the cloth.
- Rinse with cold water, making sure not to over-wet the carpet.
If your home has any carpet near your laundry room, it's a good idea to stock clean cloths and paper towels in your laundry area to prepare for any potential stains.
